MSG14 RECAP: [INSERT TEXT HERE.]

Phish.net is a project of The Mockingbird Foundation and is run by volunteers. If no one volunteers to write a recap, it is not written. No one volunteered to recap last night's show. We encourage you to visit Jambase and read Andy Kahn's recap. My two cents? A fine start to the run, with some tasty improv in "Tube" and "BOTT" in the first, and substantial, exploratory, at-times-magical improvisation in the ~40 minute "NMINML">"Twist" that's worth your time to check out. And everyone wins with the first-ever "Wedge" "Slave" encore (and first "Wedge" encore since 1995), a wonderfully unpredictable conclusion to Phish's 14th show at MSG this year. Stay warm out there, and please support LivePhish, as Phish donates a portion of its profits to Mbird.org. -$0.02

E_Wolfe Pretty much all the recap ya need right there...altho I’d stretch the 40-min NMINML>Twist into a 51-min NMINML>Twist>Everything’s Right, ‘cuz that third song had some tasty bits as well.
Regardless, I think this segment is a great example of what my buddies and I have debated ad nauseum; that sometimes quantity does result in quality. While said 51-min section(I’m more focusing on the first 40 here, but you get the idea) isn’t as dynamic and on-point as some other jams, the attempt to push the boundaries and explore was non-stop for a long, solid stretch of time in the second set. Gotta appreciate that(And there really is some good stuff in there, don’t get me wrong.).
‘Til evenin’, then.

Phriend_of_the_Devil Last night showed how critical song placement can be to overall show quality. The No Man's > Twist segment is the obvious highlight and will rightly take its place in the Jam Chart pantheon, but it was the Wilson set opener that established the tone and grabbed everyone by the lapels after the laid back vibe of the first set. JEMP served clear notice with those power E chords that their warm-up was over and that they had shaken off the cobwebs, and the effect was as bracing as the night air outside MSG.

User_25597_ Well, I've written in to phish.net on several occasions offering to review the show, only to be told these things were decided months in advance.
So...uh...I'm more than happy to review 12/30 and I'll be in the building. Holler at me.
